Exotic Animals....

So why an Exotic Animal Rescue?

The goal of Wild Rescue One is to place unwanted animals in a Permanent Home. Not to sell animals for a profit.

There are many reasons that come about that can make an animal be in need of a new home: They may have become too aggressive, too big, or develop medical problems, a divorce, moving, new job, or the owner just no longer wishes to have the animal.

We believe it is our right to own whatever animal we choose, but not every animal is in our means to care for properly. Consider behavior, size, housing, nutrition, all the factors of caring for the animal, not just now, but a few years down the road when the pet is bigger or have a plan if your current situation changes and the need to rehome your exotic pet arises.

All exotic animals need specially designed enclosures, they need to be large enough to provide a good quality of life, they need special diets, not cat and dog food or hotdogs. Most need high amounts of calcium in their diets, sun light or artificial UV lights.  Exotic mammals usually are carnivores and need the calcium from whole prey animals such as chickens, rabbits, rats, mice, etc. Reptiles such as snakes receive calcium from whole prey items such as those previously listed. Most lizards are herbivores and need dark leafy greens and fresh fruit that will provide the calcium or dusted with marketed supplements.

Mainly we are trying to say that owning an exotic animal is not easy, requires work, money, and some fore thought before purchasing. And if you look at a rescue that is housing several animals, then you see the cost that is involved. People love to give up their pet or leave it behind when they move. Look at animal shelters, full of cats and dogs...they are forced in many cases to euthanize just to be able to continue to run. But most cat and dog rescues are highly supported and they receive the funds that they need.

People will continue to purchase animals, exotic or domestic. People will continue to give up on their animal, no one is dedicated to the long haul on anything any more, animals, marriage, even their own children. Rescues need to continue so that animals in need will receive a home, receive the proper care, and receive a good quality of life. But Rescues can not exist without help, without funds, without space.
