We are Here to Serve Ohio Residents with:

Resource:

To be the Educational Outlet for Proper Husbandry of Owning Exotic Animals, including feeding, housing, prevention of accidents or other public concerns.  For unsurpassed knowledge of Ohio's Native Wildlife and any Public Concerns with encounters, helping orphaned or injured animals, or for any other general educational needs. Wild Rescue One also attempts to follow any and all proposed legislation in Ohio concerning animals and our rights as Owners.

Rescue:

To be Ohio's first choice for rescue and assistance with Native Wildlife and Exotic Animals.

Native Wildlife: We can help with injured or orphaned native wildlife. If the animal is in the Muskingum/Perry County region and surrounding counties, we can take them in, get them the medical treatment needed, and proper feeding and care to build them up for return back into the wild. For others areas, we can provide a list of other rehabilitators to assist you and the animal.

Exotic Animals: We can assist with the placement of unwanted exotic animals into permanent loving homes. We can assist with the recapture of an escaped animal. We can assist with Law Enforcement or Fire and Rescue Units with any exotic animal concern. We can assist with proper husbandry of your exotic pet including proper diet, enclosures, etc. We can assist with building or reconstruction of existing enclosures. And any other concerns you may have - Just call and Ask! 740-704-2924

Rehabilitation:

Rehabilitation is the process of caring for injured or orphaned wildlife in the proper manner as outlined by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and by the Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitators Association in order to prepare the animal for re-release back into the wild. Rehabilitation can also be in regards to exotic animals that may have not had the proper diet or enclosure and has become aggressive due to his surroundings. In some cases, with the proper care, these animals can become "pet worthy" again and are then able to be placed back into a new permanent home.

Issue of Interest!!

Ohio House Bill 45, a bill to regulate wild and exotic animal ownership, has been introduced by Representative George Distel.

Wild Rescue One opposes HB 45. This bill, if passed, allows the ODNR Division of Wildlife to administer a permitting program, establish caging & animal care requirements and enforce penalties, including the confiscation and euthanasia of our animals. HB 45 does not exempt USDA licensed facilities!  Wild Rescue One, along with other organizations, have organized efforts to defeat this bill. Please check out our new Proposed Laws and Regulations page for newly added information dedicated to fighting proposed legislative that is geared at taking away our rights as private owners of wild and exotic animals. If you are a private owner, rescue, or otherwise concerned about protecting these animals, please join us in this fight!

In Memory of Steve Irwin -  Feb 22, 1962 - Sept. 4, 2006

Wild Rescue One would like to express it's condolences to the family and friends of Steve Irwin. Steve was a unique individual who will be imitated for years to come, but never be replaced. Steve was a one-of-a-kind and he will be sorely missed. Our Hero! A man we thought we would someday meet. He will always be on our hearts.
