So Why Support Wild Rescue One?
As We have said in other pages, rescues do what they do out of their own pocket, and there are very few of us out there. We are limited by our resources.
You probably found this site through a search from Yahoo or another. We have done searches too and do not find many rescues in Ohio other than this one. We receive calls from all over Ohio and even other states. Which is GREAT! That's why we are here, to be a contact for help with any animal. We have a list of all ODNR permitted people to rehabilitate wildlife and have made a few contacts over the years to help place exotics and other animals as well. So instead of people holding wildlife illegally, trying to care for them and failing, they can find us and we can take the animal or find someone close who legally can. We can help place that exotic animal that you can no longer care for as well.
Below is a map of Ohio with each county designated. In the County we have placed the number of rehabilitators each county has. You can clearly see that there is not enough. And see the area at which we are located and the huge void around us....

I count 75 ODNR Permitted Rehabilitators. Only 11 who hold permits to handle White-Tail Deer. There was one in Muskingum County, but now decided not to take any more in. Of course this isn't everyone, most permit holders have one or more people as a sub-permit holder under them. Sub-permit holders are not included in ODNR's Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators book. But you see that most of the rehabilitators are in the Northern half of the state and the southwestern side. Same with Deer rehab. We have taken at least 10 deer calls this year, and nowhere to send them, but a 3 hour drive.
Rehabilitators are needed to continue to help our State's Wildlife and to educate the public on our Native Animals.
We cannot work without help. We all have busy
lives, work fulltime jobs, raising kids, but we at Wild Rescue One have went a step further
and have also dedicated ourselves to saving lives. We don't take any
animal in that we are not committed to until it is released back
into the wild, if wildlife, adopted into a permanent home, if exotic or
domestic, or if not, we will care for it throughout its life. If we don't feel
we can care for an animal for the rest of its life, than we will refer you to
someone else. People who we have found over the years that rescue, are committed
to what they do and are trusted in caring for your unwanted pet.
With the help and support of others we can purchase land and be able to build more enclosures to handle more animals. At this point we cannot take any big exotics, we cannot get a deer permit to help orphaned fawns, we cannot build raptor enclosures to house raptors, without more land, space, and money to build the enclosures.
If you found this site because you were looking for a place for your unwanted exotic pet, or have found a baby native wild animal and didn't know what to do with it, or maybe you are just interested in rescues, whatever the reason that brought you here, you obviously care about animals, care about the work that rescues do, and hopefully after scanning through this site you have come to realize the need for rescues and the need for funding.
At this point we do not have our 501 (c) tax exempt, so any donations you make will not be tax deductible for you, but please don't let that stop you, for the money is needed for this rescue to continue.
If you would like to make a contribution, please contact Mike via email at mike@wildrescue1.org

Once the 501 (c) non-profit status is made we will set up membership's to our Rescue.
